Standard Life Launch RDR training Tutorials

Standard Life Investments are to make over 100 RDR training tutorials available to financial institutions. The tutorials are fully accredited by the Institute of Financial Planning (IFP) and aim to help advisers provide information to companies on how best to comply with the upcoming Retail Distribution Review. The tutorials are available atĀ www.standardlifeinvestments.com/training and will help advisers complete 21 hours a year of structured learning in relation to the new requirements. They wil handle such subjects as equities, risk management and economical analysis. Nick Cann, chief executive of the IFP, commented "It is particularly encouraging for us at the IFP and financial planners and paraplanners to see developments like this. There is a shortage of relevant content to meet specific regulatory requirements and Standard Life has managed this in a particularly innovative and helpful way." The tutorials are aimed to provide an efficient means of researching requirements and have apparently received a lot of positive reaction already. Michael Beveridge, head of intermediary sales at Standard Life, claims "With the success of these sessions and the deadline for RDR compliance looming, it is a natural move for us to launch an online portal to help UK intermediaries meet these new training requirements. "There has never been a more important time to ensure that advisers are getting the right level of support from investment providers." Fay Goddard, chief executive of the Personal Finance Society, added "It is essential that financial planners and advisers understand the importance of maintaining knowledge through relevant structured CPD, both now and post-RDR. The PFS welcomes this initiative which will help support the advisory sector in meeting their requirements."
